When you live intentionally, you live your life with more purpose and focus on the right things for your mind, body, and soul. If you feel like you are missing something in your life, here are some ways to live more intentionally.
Understand All the choices You Have
“We are the creative force of our life, and through our own decisions rather than our conditions, if we carefully learn to do certain things, we can accomplish those goals.” —Stephen Covey
If you want to live more intentionally, it helps to be more aware of the choices you already have. Just about everything in your life is your own doing. Think of how many circumstances you are in that are within your control. The people you spend time with, where you live, your job, your education, how you spend your free time, so many other things are in your control. These are the choices you are making.
Find Your Purpose
“Live the Life of Your Dreams: Be brave enough to live the life of your dreams according to your vision and purpose instead of the expectations and opinions of others.” ― Roy T. Bennett
Do you know why you do certain things? Why are your habits in your life? What is the purpose behind your choices? This is what you want to get to the bottom of to live more intentionally. Before you can be intentional, you need to find your purpose, inspiration behind what you do and why you do that. A great way to do this is by writing in a journal daily, as this is the easiest way to get more clarity.
Keep Evaluating Yourself and Your Life
“No one has free will until they are an adult, and by then the choices that were made for them, have already set them on a course that gives limited freedom in the choices to be made.” ― J.D. Stroube
Continue evaluating your own life and your intentions. Don’t just assume you have it all figured out. Life is about learning and growing, and yes, sometimes changing. Make it a habit to look at your life from the outside, and examine your heading. Keep working on your goals, develop new skills, and learn new things as much as you can.
Stay True to Yourself
“One of the greatest regrets in life is being what others would want you to be, rather than being yourself.“– Shannon L. Alder
Stop comparing yourself to other people! They have their life, and you have yours. It is okay to get inspiration from others, but you have your mind and life. It is vital to stay true to yourself, know what YOU want to do with your life, and not let others dictate your intentions.
Who Do You Surround Yourself With?
“Be around people that make you want to be a better person, who make you feel good, make you laugh, and remind you what’s important in life.” ― Germany Kent
A quick way to live a more intentional life is to think about who you choose to surround yourself with and decide if their presence serves you. This is a perfect time to live yourself with purpose and make decisions based on benefiting your life the most. If there are toxic, negative people around you, or people who just always put you down or don’t support you, now is an excellent time to decide if it is worth spending time with them or not.
